Prepare Your Tools
To create natural texture and a relaxed beach look, you will need a few basic items:
- Sea salt spray.
- A hair dryer, ideally with a diffuser, but a standard dryer works too.
- Your fingers (leave the comb in the drawer this time).
Tip: Sea salt spray is ideal for fine or flat hair. It adds texture, makes hair look fuller, and gives a matte finish. If your hair is very dry, use a small amount of oil on the ends after styling.
Styling steps at home
-
Apply to damp hair
- Apply the spray to freshly washed hair that you have gently towel-dried. Hair should be damp, not dripping wet.
- Mist approximately 3 to 5 pumps depending on hair length and thickness. Distribute the spray evenly across your head, focusing mainly on the lengths. Apply sparingly at the roots if you want extra volume.
-
Scrunch instead of combing
- Use your palms and fingers instead of a comb. Gently scrunch the hair upward, from ends toward the roots.
- This encourages natural waves, highlights hair structure, and creates a relaxed look without an overly slick finish.
-
Blow-dry to set
- Set the dryer to low or medium heat and a gentle airflow. Too strong a stream can break up forming waves and cause frizz.
- While drying, lightly lift and scrunch the hair with your fingers. If you use a diffuser, hold it close to the hair with slow, gentle movements.
- Continue until the hair is dry or almost dry. Sea salt spray helps enhance texture and create a natural, slightly matte look with flexible volume.
The result should be hair with natural texture, relaxed volume, and an effect as if you just came back from the sea. Start with less spray and add more if needed. Too much salt can dry out hair or leave a stiff feel.
