Prepare Your Tools
You will need:
- An electric trimmer (special nose and ear attachment)
- Round-tip scissors (if you do not have a trimmer)
- Good lighting (daylight or strong white light in the bathroom works best)
Tip: Never pluck nose hairs with tweezers. The mucosa is very sensitive and you risk painful inflammation or infection. Nose hairs serve a purpose, so only trim them so they do not stick out.
At-home grooming steps
-
Clean and prepare
- Before you start, clean your nose and ears. Hairs must be dry and free of debris so the trimmer does not pull and cuts cleanly.
-
Trim inside the nose
- Tilt your head back slightly and lift the tip of your nose with a finger.
- Insert the trimmer only a short way inside (maximum 0.5 cm) and remove visible hairs at the edge of the nostril with slow circular motions.
-
Check the ears
- Pull the ear taut and check the earlobes and ear canal opening in the mirror.
- With the trimmer or round-tip scissors, remove hairs on the outer ear. If hairs sit on the ear rim, trim them from top to bottom with the trimmer.
