Prepare Your Tools
You will need:
- A detail trimmer or a clean razor
- Clear shaving gel or oil (so you can see exactly where you are going)
- Aftershave splash or balm
- Two mirrors (one handheld to check your profile)
Tip: Less is more. Never try to move the line higher than your barber set it. Just remove the stubble that grew outside the main line.
Grooming steps
-
Find the neck line
- Tilt your head back and find the line your barber created (usually two fingers above the Adam's apple).
- Shave everything below that line toward the chest with a trimmer or razor, moving downward.
-
Clean up the cheeks
- Apply clear gel to the upper cheeks.
- With a trimmer or razor, remove only hairs that sit clearly above the sharp beard line.
- Follow the natural curve from the sideburns to the corners of the mouth.
-
Soothe the skin
- After shaving, rinse the face with cool water to close pores.
- Apply balm or aftershave to help prevent redness and neck breakouts.
