\nThe client sees hair on the pillow, in the shower, or on the comb, and a catastrophic scenario immediately starts running in their head \u2013 and that is why we, the barbers, are here.<\/p>\n

We are the first experts clients entrust with this problem.
\nAnd that is exactly why it is important to know when hair loss is normal, when it\u2019s a warning sign, and when it\u2019s no longer about natural shedding, but about health.<\/p>\n

Hair loss as a natural process.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start from the very basics, which are surprisingly often overlooked.<\/p>\n

The Hair Growth Cycle: Why hair never falls out all at once<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Every hair on the head functions independently and follows its own biological cycle. This cycle has three phases that constantly repeat.<\/p>\n

In the growth phase<\/b> (anagen), the hair actively grows, strengthens, and creates volume. It lasts for several years and determines the maximum length and quality of the hair.<\/p>\n

In the transitional phase<\/b> (catagen), growth stops and the hair begins to biologically disconnect from active nutrition.<\/p>\n

In the resting phase<\/b> (telogen), the hair does not grow but remains anchored in the scalp until a new hair gradually pushes it out.<\/p>\n

Daily hair loss is therefore a completely normal phenomenon<\/b>, not a signal of catastrophe.

Hair loss is an ideal subject for myths. It is visible, emotional, and easily exploited by marketing.<\/p>\n

“Hats destroy hair”
\n<\/b>A hat itself doesn’t destroy hair. It can worsen the scalp’s micro-environment, but it won’t cause genetic hair loss<\/b>. If hats caused balding, all skiers, firefighters, or, for example, all hockey players would be bald.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 is it the washing, or not?<\/b><\/b><\/h4>\n

The problem isn’t that you wash your hair often.<\/p>\n

The problem is what<\/b> you wash it with.<\/p>\n

A paradox that always surprises men:
\nWhen a man starts washing his hair with the correct product intended for hair<\/b> \u2013 ideally gentle, natural, and respecting the scalp’s pH \u2013 he can wash it every day, even several times a day.<\/p>\n

And the result?<\/p>\n

The scalp calms down, oil production balances out, hair strengthens, quality improves, and shedding often slows down significantly.<\/p>\n

Yes, you read that right.<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Frequent washing with the right product does not harm hair. On the contrary.<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Just watch out for one thing that marketing doesn’t like to say:

Whoever expects results in two weeks will be disappointed. But those who persist often find that the problem wasn’t in their genes, but in what they had in their bathroom for years<\/b>.<\/p>\n

“Yesterday I fell asleep in front of the TV with a wet head.”<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

This is a chapter of its own and extremely underestimated.
\n<\/b>A reality that isn’t talked about much.<\/p>\n

Moisture + Heat + Darkness = the ideal environment for fungi
\n<\/b>The scalp is warm, the pillow is absorbent; moisture from the hair stays in the pillow for hours or even days, where fungi start to form.<\/p>\n

This isn’t a cosmetic problem; it\u2019s a microbiological problem.

\nHair isn’t stupid.
\nAs soon as the scalp struggles long-term with inflammation, fungi, and improper care, the hair immediately retreats, weakens, shortens its growth cycle, and one day simply leaves.<\/p>\n

Not because it “falls out,” but because it no longer has a place to grow.<\/p>\n

Why do these myths persist?<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Because it’s much more pleasant to say and accept: “The shampoo is to blame,” than to accept the reality that: “This is a long-term process that didn’t start yesterday.”<\/p>\n

The human brain likes quick solutions.
\nBiology and long-term processes, unfortunately, do not.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

So.. anyway: <\/b>The client doesn’t invent these myths out of stupidity. They invent them out of fear or ignorance, and that’s where the difference lies between a barber who only cuts hair and is uninformed, or a barber who explains, calms, and shows reality<\/b>.
\nBecause sometimes the greatest service to a client isn’t a new haircut, but the truth told without ridicule<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Genetics is not an excuse. <\/b><\/span>
\n<\/b>What really decides when your hair starts thinning.<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

Many men say: “It runs in the family, there’s nothing that can be done.”<\/p>\n

That isn’t entirely true. Genetics doesn’t just determine if your hair starts thinning. It mainly determines when<\/b> and how fast<\/b>. Hair doesn’t disappear because the body stopped working, but because certain parts of the head are more sensitive than others<\/b>.<\/p>\n

What is actually happening<\/b><\/b><\/h4>\n

On the head, we have areas that are more sensitive to hormones, for example, the corners (temples) or the crown (the so-called “CD”). There, the hair starts behaving differently than on the rest of the head.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not exactly that it stops growing; it just grows for a shorter time, is weaker, and looks finer.
\nIf we ignore this phenomenon, one day our hair will no longer return to its original form.<\/p>\n

And what does the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone) have to do with it?<\/b><\/b><\/h4>\n

DHT is a hormone that has its role in the body. The problem isn’t that it exists. The problem is that some hair is not fond of it and is very sensitive to it<\/b>.<\/p>\n

When a hair is sensitive to DHT<\/b>, the time it grows for is shortened. The hair becomes progressively weaker and renews itself faster until one day it doesn’t renew at all.<\/p>\n

That is not a shampoo error. That is biology.<\/p>\n

How is it possible that a barber notices the problem before you do?<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

A client usually starts addressing hair at the moment they see receding temples or a thinning crown in the mirror.<\/p>\n

But a barber notices other things: that the hair is finer than before, that it’s losing volume, that the crown is reacting differently than the nape, that the hair structure is changing.<\/p>\n

True dandruff has a different origin. It is linked to an overgrowth of microorganisms on the scalp and an imbalance of sebum. The flakes are larger, oilier, and often stick to the scalp and hair.<\/p>\n

Here, it\u2019s not just about hydration, but about targeted care<\/b> that helps return balance to the scalp with suitable products.<\/p>\n

Seborrhea, or when the problem takes off completely<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Seborrhea is a more serious condition where the scalp produces an excessive amount of oil while an inflammatory reaction occurs. It manifests as oily, yellowish scales, redness, itching, and sometimes an unpleasant burning sensation.<\/b><\/p>\n

Preventing hair loss: what a barber can recommend<\/b><\/span>
\n<\/b><\/span>(without promises that cannot be kept)<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

Massages, hygiene, and routine are the foundation that makes sense
\n<\/b>Hair grows in the hair follicle, which needs good blood circulation, a clean environment, and a stable routine.<\/p>\n

Scalp massage supports blood circulation, improves skin oxygenation, and aids better nutrient supply.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not about scratching; regularity and correct technique \u2013 using fingertips \u2013 is enough.
\nMassage itself won’t change genetics, but it creates better conditions for hair growth<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Scalp hygiene
\n<\/b>Poor hygiene is a more common problem than people think. It\u2019s not about washing hair too little or too much, but correctly<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Basic mistakes include using unsuitable “all-in-one” products, long-term sleeping with a wet head, neglected pillowcases, and clogged or irritated scalp.<\/p>\n

A clean, dry, and calm scalp gives hair a chance to grow with quality.<\/p>\n

Routine and lifestyle
\n<\/b>Stress, lack of sleep, and overall fatigue show on hair sooner than one realizes.<\/p>\n

A body under long-term stress saves energy<\/b>, and hair is not a priority.<\/p>\n

A barber shouldn’t give out philosophical advice, but can point out the connections and explain that hair reacts to the overall state of the body.<\/p>\n

The reality of hair cosmetics: Support, not a miracle.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Hair cosmetics is not a medicine and never will be.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

It is a tool<\/b> that helps create a better environment for the scalp and hair. If used correctly, it works very well.<\/p>\n

Everything that<\/b> respects the scalp, has a simple and understandable composition, doesn’t clog the skin, and supports pH balance makes sense.<\/p>\n

Marketing is everything that <\/b>promises to stop genetic hair loss, talks about “turning off DHT without side effects,” offers immediate results within a few days or weeks, and uses intimidation as a sales tool.<\/p>\n
